How to Configure Search Engine Visibility and Social Sharing

VIDIZMO provides settings to control how your portal content appears in search engines and on social media platforms. These settings are located in Portal Settings under Branding.

Prerequisites

  • You must belong to a group with Portal Management feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.

Search Engine Visibility and Social Sharing Settings

Navigate to the settings:

  1. In the left navigation panel, expand Admin and select Portal Settings.
  2. In the Portal Settings navigation, expand Branding.
  3. Select Search Engine Visibility.

The following options are available:

Encourage Search Engines to Index Your Portal

When enabled, search engine crawlers (also known as web crawlers, spiders, or bots) can index your portal and its content. This allows your content to appear in search results on search engines like Google and Bing.

VIDIZMO allows search engines to index the following components:

  • Portal Title
  • Portal Description
  • Media Title
  • Media Description

To enable:

  1. Select the Encourage search engines to index your portal checkbox.
  2. Select Submit.

Requirements for search engine indexing:

NOTE: Search engines may take from a few hours to several days to index your portal and content. See How Search organizes information for more details.

NOTE: Keep this feature disabled if you are using VIDIZMO Digital Evidence Management System to prevent search engines from indexing sensitive or confidential content.

Enable Interactive Social Media Sharing

When enabled, content shared on social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn) displays as interactive thumbnails with the media's thumbnail image, title, and description. Users can view or play content directly from the social media site without navigating to the VIDIZMO portal.

To enable:

  1. Select the Enable interactive social media sharing checkbox.
  2. Select Submit.

Requirements for interactive social sharing:

  • Your portal must be configured to use HTTPS. Social media platforms only allow interactive sharing from secure sources.
  • Content must have anonymous access to be shared interactively.

Supported content types for interactive sharing:

  • Video
  • Audio
  • Image
  • Document
  • Playlist
  • Collection
  • Survey

Share Content on Social Media

After enabling interactive social media sharing:

  1. Copy the media link from VIDIZMO.
  2. Paste the link on a social media platform.

The link automatically converts to an interactive thumbnail displaying the content's thumbnail, title, and description. Social media users can play videos directly from the social media site.
